Luis Rafael Miranda Rodriguez
Luis Rafael Miranda Rodriguez finished his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Ana G Mendez University in Puerto Rico in 2019 and entered the Ph.D. program at Rutgers that same year with the Deans Fellowship. His Ph.D. is in mechanical and aerospace engineering. His research focuses on polymer matrix composite characterization under extreme environments. In AMSL, he has worked on vibration, thermal, microscopic, and impact characterization of polymer matrix composites. Luis has developed a vibration testing system compliant with ASTM E756-05 and has developed sample fabrication methods for the laboratory using the autoclave. In addition to this, he has trained, mentored, and guided multiple undergraduate students in the laboratory. Finally, Luis Rafael Miranda Rodriguez has TA’d Mechanics of Materials, Desing of mechanical components, Honors Statics, and Online Statics and has also taught the statics course in the summer. He has worked with the Mechanical Engineering Graduate student Association (MEGA) on logistics for the training programs for qualifier exams and has participated as a speaker for the Office of Disability Services (ODS) and yearly participates in the “Night to Shine” event dedicated for individuals with disabilities.
