Instron Testing Machines

Locations D135 and RWH 114
AMSL is equipped with two Instron Testing Machines, an Instron 8821S in lab number D133 and an Instron 4411 in lab number RWH114. The 8821S is capable of a max force of 100KN allowing it to test tough materials; in addition, it is equipped with a 25KN-load cell for smaller, more precise loads. On the other side of the spectrum, the 4411 has a 200 N load-bearing capacity for testing fragile samples that otherwise would be crushed by just being gripped.

Instron 8821S:

• Max load: 25KN, 100KN
• Testing capabilities: Tension, compression, 3-point bending

Instron 4411:

• Max load: 200N
• Testing capabilities: Tension, compression
